Liver Cancer UK is part of the British Liver Trust, which is the leading liver health charity in the UK, focussed on improving liver health for all and supporting those affected by liver cancer and liver disease. 

Our core work includes:

  1. providing information and support to those affected
  2. increasing awareness of liver cancer and the risk factors
  3. campaigning for earlier detection and better treatment
  4. working with healthcare professionals and other stakeholders to drive up standards of care and encourage more research

Why we’ve launched Liver Cancer UK

Improving the lives and outcomes for people with, and at-risk of, liver disease and liver cancer is our passion.

While the British Liver Trust is seen as the UK’s leading charity for people affected by liver disease, we recognised a need to do more to help people understand and feel connected to the work we do for people with liver cancer.

Following conversations with our audiences, including patients, supporters and healthcare professionals, we decided that in order to put a spotlight on our work with liver cancer, we needed to develop a separate identity closely linked to the British Liver Trust, that would help us stand out. 

We launched Liver Cancer UK to help us reach and support more people affected by liver cancer and maximize the impact of our campaigning work to improve early diagnosis and drive up standards of care, which will ultimately improve the lives for people with liver cancer, now and in the future. 

The link between liver disease and liver cancer

The majority of people with liver cancer will have an underlying liver condition.  Improving liver health and surveillance of people with liver disease is vital to reduce the number of people diagnosed with liver cancer.
