Light up for liver

Help us make a mark in your local community during Liver Cancer Awareness Month in October. We want to turn the skylines and local landmarks of the UK green by illuminating them at night to raise awareness of liver cancer.

Remember: we don’t need landmarks to be lit up green for the full month. Even one night or one week can raise a lot of awareness!

We’re so pleased with the response to the 2024 campaign, with a huge number of landmarks across the country illuminating green, including:

How to get involved

1) Identify landmark(s)

You will have no doubt seen many buildings in your community that are already lit up at night, these can range from town halls and libraries, to shopping centres, and even major landmarks and monuments. You might be able to find the person or department to contact on their website, or you could reach out to them on social media. 

2) Get in touch

We have a template letter below, which you can feel free to adapt and send. Many councils and other institutions may be able to change building lighting at relatively short notice.

3) Shout about your success!

If a landmark agrees to light up green in October please do let us know at media@britishlivertrust.org.uk. And if you can pop down on the specific night(s) of the illumination and take a picture we would love to see it! You can also post about it on social media using the hashtags #LightUpForLiver and #LiverCancerAwarenessMonth.
